Dhalbhumgarh block of East Singhbhum district is located 50 km south east from Jamshedpur. Most of the people are backward and tribal poor families. Of these, we are working with 6000 HHs among whom, minimum irrigation facilities a mere 1121 HHs have access to assured irrigation.

From the last few years RDA has taken a new initiative with villagers on sanitation. Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives along with RDA has started implementing the Mission-2020 programme“BuildingDhalbhumgarh, East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand as a driver for regional growth while transforming quality of life of 6,000 households under the central India Initiative”. Access to drinking water and sanitation been identified as critical interventions towards improving health and overall quality of life in the region. CInI under the Tata Water Mission initiative of the Tata Trusts will support in facilitating access to safe drinking water and hygienic sanitation facilities for the communities in these cluster in collaboration with RDA. The programme leverages the mainstream initiative – Jal Jeevan Mission of Government of India to facilitate household to access tap water facilities. With emphasis on demand generation and behavior change the programme envisages to scale across the selected Gram Panchayats to achieve the goal. Safe drinking water is envisaged through household and community-based solutions as per the water resources available in the selected villages. The programme will work with the institutions of SHG’s, VWSC’s,JalNalSamittee at hamlet level, Federations and FPC as well as Panchayat Raj Institutions to achieve the goal.

Overall objective:

“Every rural household has drinking water supply in adequate quantity of prescribed quality on regular and long-term basis at affordable service delivery charges leading to improvement in living standards of rural communities”.

Achieve improvement in quality of life in the livelihood clusters through facilitating provision of hygienic sanitation facilities, safe drinking water and behavior change in the communities with regard to personal hygiene and cleanliness in Dhalbhumgarh Block of East Singbhum district.
